It is a fortified town in the South of France and it is the second most visited tourist spot after the Eiffel tower.

This fortified city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, looks like something straight out of a children’s book, so it is a perfect spot for a family holiday.

Versailles

Versailles  symbolises the Absolute Monarchy as well as the French Revolution  – so it’s a place that’s crucial if you want to understand the history of the country.

The palace and its gardens are absolutely enormous and you can easily spend a day or two just wondering around.

If you can, go there on a sunny day at a warmer time of the year, because the gardens are spectacular.

In summertime visitors can enjoy fireworks and ‘fountain games’ every night.

Etretat

Etretat is not a historical place but it is definitely a unique archeological site.

It is situated on the coast of Normandy boasting some stunning white chalk cliffs.
